What’s a Canadian House Hippo?

How cute is the Canadian House Hippo? I grew up in the United Kingdom, so I had never seen this tiny domesticated hippopotamus.

My Canadian friends, however, reliably informed me that they all wanted a one thanks to this advert! It almost makes me want one, too.

What is your favourite English word?

I think I would struggle to pick just one. Could you pick three favourite English Words? What would they be? and why?

During an after school lesson, I asked the students to work in pairs to pick three of their favourite English words and then present these to the whole class. Whilst monitoring their progress, I noticed that a few of them had chosen the word hippo.

Do you believe it’s real?

Now I plan to show my students the youtube clip, observe their reactions, and teach them how to spell hippopotamus. Then, prompt some further classroom discussion about the video and it’s authenticity.

Do you think another generation of young children in Seoul will be leaving out water, peanut butter, toast on the floor and mittens in their closets for the sleepy Canadian House Hippo?
