What’s happening for our Weekend Sten do in Birmingham?

Or firstly, you might want to ask what’s a Sten do?

A Sten do or Sten party is a combined stag & hen party, where the bride and groom celebrate with a mixed group of friends prior to their wedding. They have become increasingly popular over the last decade.

Why are we organising a Sten Party?

You may have heard her mention this before, but Regan’s not keen on traditional single-sex hen parties with matching clothing, themed outfits, or any penis gimmicky related tat.

She fancies a relaxed celebration with a few drinks in Brum, where she can just focus on just having a great time with some of the most important people in her life. As she was intending to invite male and female friends, it seemed a bit odd not to invite Brett too.

A joint weekend sten do in Birmingham provides an opportunity for friends and family who are not able to attend our destination wedding in Rhodes to wish us well before the vows.

Who is organising the Sten do?

Since we’ve opted for a Sten do rather than a traditional hen party, Regan and her chief bridesmaid Emma are organising the weekend. We plan to create a chat group (probably in WhatsApp), but we don’t want to bombard you with messages. If you have any questions, please direct them all towards Emma (kidding) and then we will share information in the chat group.

Why are we organising a Sten Party in Birmingham?

Any midlander knows Birmingham is the UK’s second largest city with more canals than Venice! Plus it’s close to our home, located in the heart of the England and easy to reach for those travelling from further a field. And there’s a good variety of bars, restaurants and entertainment in the city centre.

From 2015 – 2019, Regan and Brett attended regular photography meet-ups in Birmingham. This is where their relationship began to blossom, especially when they discovered their shared enthusiasm for socialising with other photographers in the local pub after the meet-up.

Will you be able to come for all or part of the Weekend Sten do in Birmingham?

We appreciate that not everyone may be able to stay in Birmingham or attend for the whole weekend, so we’re planning four sessions over the two days. You are welcome to join us for any or all of them. Please complete the RSVP form below.

Saturday evening’s drinking session will be a short pub crawl around the canal basin and/or the city centre. Sunday afternoon’s drinking session will be a short pub crawl around Digbeth and/or the city centre.

Will there be a separate Hen or Stag party?

Brett plans to organise a smaller stag party for some of his close male friends which will involve driving, possibly armoured vehicles and drinking a few beers #nobodygetsoutsober
