New breakfast & Brunch menu at Esquires Coffee in Coventry!

AD – PR / PRESS EVENT. This review of Esquires Coffee’s new Breakfast & Brunch menu is courtesy of a gifted tasting session which I attended with Coventry Bloggers. *All opinions are my own.

Esquires Coffee Company Overview:

Esquires Coffee started out as a small coffee shop in British Columbia in Canada. It’s now a leading brand within the ethical coffee industry. They are an ethically minded company, and they strive to use sustainable resources which do not harm the planet or exploit other people for profit.

Esquires Coffee Coventry

The Esquires Coffee branch in Coventry is in the Transport Museum on Hale Street. The slogan on the wall says “good coffee helps”. Being a coffee lover, I fully support this notion.

Esquires Coffee in Coventry’s Instagram page states that they “serve amazing artisan coffee, cake, fresh pastry, sandwiches & more every day”. I believe they also serve Coventry Godcakes. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any of these so I will have to revisit to verify this information. Purely for blog research purposes, obviously.

It is a relatively big place with different sized tables and a variety of seating. There are cute little bike ornaments on the counter and bicycle wheels to remind you of Coventry’s heritage, and that they are linked to the Transport Museum. Whilst we were there, Coventry Improv was practising on the other side of the room and there was loads of space for both groups.

At the tasting session, I ordered a familiar and comforting caramel latte to satisfy my sweet tooth. I probably should have been a tad more adventurous, like some of the other bloggers who ordered the Coconut Milk Mocha recommended by Emily. I played safe, as I wasn’t sure what the food would be like, so I wanted to have something that I knew I would enjoy.

How cute did Emily’s Coconut Milk Mocha look though? Next time…

Esquires New Breakfast & Brunch Menu

We attended our Menu tasting session after hours, and we had pre-ordered our food in advance. I knew from our emails that the other bloggers had opted for vegan and vegetarian meals, which I have to say all looked rather fabulous, and they raved about them a great deal whilst they were eating them. As you can see from the Esquires menu, there are plenty of Veggie and Vegan options. I’m not really a big meat-eater, but I decided to order the full English breakfast and the Cumberland Sausage Roll to try to provide a more balanced review of the new Breakfast & Brunch menu.

Esquires Full English Breakfast

When I showed Brett this image, he proceeded to tell me that he wouldn’t be going to Esquires because there weren’t any baked beans. “What kind of full English Breakfast is that without baked beans!”, he exclaimed. Well, it’s the kind of English Breakfast that I would order, because I don’t like baked beans or fried mushrooms. I’m not quite sure how Brett forgot this information since he teases me plenty for being a picky eater!

Despite remembering to ask for my breakfast without the baked beans or the fried mushrooms, I had forgotten to mention that I don’t like runny eggs. I’ve never seen eggs cooked like this before, so I was a bit nervous about those. I left them until towards the end if there was any yolk seepage (you might be able to understand why Brett calls me a picky eater now). The bacon, sausage, tomato and hash browns were all delicious. None was greasy, and the hash browns were super soft and fluffy inside. Back to the eggs, thankfully they were well cooked and the yolk was firm, so I managed to eat them. They tasted rather good!

The Cumberland Sausage Roll

The Cumberland Sausage Roll was a toasted Sandwich. I thought it was going to be an actual sausage roll like the ones you get from a pastry shop or have at a buffet. So, this threw me! After my surprise and many attempts to capture the perfect shot (I squished the bread a bit, that was me, sorry). The Cumberland Sausages between the toasted bloomer bread were a delicious delight. I will definitely go back for another yummy Cumberland Sausage roll.

Many thanks to Esquires Coffee in Coventry

Thom kindly posed for me whilst I took this shot. He creates pretty pictures in the coffee and he takes some of the promotional images for Esquires. If you are interested, he also loves to knit and he has a really cool Instagram page @thom_adkins.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Esquires Coffee for inviting us to taste the new Breakfast & Brunch menu. You were all really patient, friendly and helpful.

Have you joined the Coventry Bloggers group yet?

This was my second meet up with Coventry Bloggers. Last December, I attended one of their coffee afternoons to suss them out. I found them really welcoming and friendly. So, I wasn’t nervous about meeting the other bloggers, I was more nervous about the prospect of writing another review. A number of the other bloggers were new to the group. Some of them were rather nervous about coming to their first event. Although, they generally have more confidence and experience at blogging than me.

Coventry Bloggers

Our menu tasting had a small group of bloggers, which provided plenty of opportunities to chat with each other. They were all lovely. We had a great evening together. This meant that I was really looking forward to seeing them again at the next blogging event. There’ll be another post about this coming soon…
